Frequently Asked Questions
Is Ubiquity a Reseller?
No. Ubiquity utilizes exclusively our own staff and equipment within private cages and suites inside of telecom hubs located around the country. Direct relationships with telecom carriers, ARIN, and software vendors are also kept and transparent via any of the databases and partner lists of the vendors mentioned on this website. Customer service is delivered from a centralized location at our Bloomington, Illinois offices - not by a string of random Internet hires, or outsourced to a 3rd party.
Does Ubiquity price match?
Although we try to be as competitive as possible for the quality of product we offer, Ubiquity does not price-match. With the thick ambiguity of the internet, there's no shortage of colocation facilities that have gotten robbed on a regular basis due to skimping on security measures. There's no shortage of server providers that have no more than 1Mbps of capacity to their entire redundancy-free garage data center, and will gladly sell you 100Mbps of dedicated bandwidth out of that, or that use only desktop grade machines with lower performance / life expectancy.
We do not compete with what the Internet's cheapest of the cheap can dish up - and if we did, you'd be far better off not using us as your provider for obvious reasons.
What are Ubiquity's hours?
Ubiquity support is available 24/7/365 via ticket, email, phone, and usually live chat. Ubiquity's sales department is available during regular business hours in Central Standard time (M-F 9 AM-6 PM CST), and most urgent sales requests can be handled by our support department if sales is unavailable. Contact details can be found here.
Can I Resell for Ubiquity?
Absolutely. Check out this page for information on becoming an official reseller of our dedicated server or VPS solutions.
How does your network differ by location?
The short answer is, it doesn't. Ubiquity uses premium connectivity to Mzima Networks in all of our locations, generally with another local solution in place for fail-over in the event that redundant connectivity to Mzima fails us.
Is Your Bandwidth Dedicated?
Unless it's specifically labeled "shared unmetered", the answer is yes. There are more providers than not these days that oversell network capacity, thinking that customers won't know the difference. Ubiquity's networks are always high-availability, and will always have the capacity that your plan requires. If ever your account drops a single packet, or when tested in throughput from other high quality sources and does not hit and does not hit the full port capacity, it will be addressed diligently by our staff as a legitimate performance issue.
How Much Throughput Comes From the 100Mbit Shared Unmetered Plan?
Each server is connected via private (non-shared) 100Mbit port which runs to a switch on a gigabit uplink with our bandwidth providers. Bandwidth supplied by our 100MBit shared unmetered plan is NOT dedicated. Servers on 100Mbit shared unmetered plan can expect an average 1500GB-3000GB/monthly throughput on outbound transfer (from the server to the internet) and up to 20TB/monthly throughput on inbound transfer (from the internet to the server).
Do you have any server specials?
Always! Check Ubiquity's Overstock Listing to inquire about servers that have been downgraded from our list offerings, but are still good systems.
The Server I Want isn't Listed. Can I Get Something Custom?
Yes. Ubiquity can deliver virtually any custom configuration under the sun. Custom orders may take longer than standard orders (up to 1-2 weeks depending on the complexity of the order), however we are more than happy to supply them.
